Honor Your Father!

Doug: What are you doing guys?

Terry: I beg your pardon; I am not a guy! Humph!

Doug: OK..OK.. I'm sorry. What should I say?

Terry: Just hi how are would would be fine.

Doug: Augh...Gee I didn't mean anything, wrong.

Paul: That's OK Doug don't mind her, she's always like
that.

Terry: No, I'm not!

Paul: See what I mean. other than my sister being
impossible I'm just fine.

Doug: Finally a reasonable answer.

Terry: If you wanted a reasonable answer you should have
asked a reasonable question.

Paul: Please, Terry we are never going to get anywhere
this way. Remember what we are doing and try to
concentrate on the subject.

Doug: What are you working on?

Terry: We are trying to make a list of things we can do
to honor the Father.

Doug: Huh? What do you mean?

Paul: Well, today we were studying Malachi 1:6; and it
says, " A son honoureth [his] father, and a servant his
master: if then I [be] a father, where [is] mine honour?
and if I [be] a master, where [is] my fear? saith the
LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name.
And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?" And our
Mom asked us to make a list of things that we can do to
honor our Father in heaven.

Terry: Yes, and we are going through the Bible and
finding verses to go along with them to.

Doug: Wow, that sounds neat.

Paul: Want to help us?

Doug: Sure sounds like fun.

Terry: I don't know if we should let him or not.

Paul: Why shouldn't we?

Doug: That's Ok I know she doesn't like me, anyway.

Terry: I didn't mean it like that. What I meant was do
you think Mom would mind him helping us do our
assignment?

Paul: No, I don't believe so. Because I know Mom wants
everyone to know about God and the best way to know
about God is to read and study his word.

Terry: And by Doug helping us find ways to honor the
Father then he is learning about the word.

Doug: You know something?

Paul & Terry: What?

Doug: You guys, Ah I mean you two sure do have a smart
Mom. She knows how to make learning fun.

Terry: To bad she can't talk to a couple of my teachers!

Paul: Naw, I don't want to give her the big head or
anything.

Doug: Ok, now back to having fun. What have you got
already?

Paul: We haven't been working long, but here goes;
1) Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that
thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy
God giveth thee.
2)Leviticus 19:3 Ye shall fear every man his mother,
and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I [am] the LORD
your God.

Terry: I've got;
1)Leviticus 21:6 They shall be holy unto their God, and
not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of
the LORD made by fire, [and] the bread of their God,
they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
2)Deuteronomy 5:16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as
the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may
be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the
land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
3)I Samuel 2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith,
I said indeed [that] thy house, and the house of thy
father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD
saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will
honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly
esteemed.

Doug: I have one too! Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou
[art] our father; we [are] the clay, and thou our
potter; and we all [are] the work of thy hand.

Paul: That's a good one. Here's another;
Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Terry: Yes and their is also; Matthew 6:14 For if ye
forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will
also forgive you:

Doug: And how about Matthew 23:9 And call no [man] your
father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is
in heaven.

Paul: So let's see what exactly can we do to honor our
heavenly Father?

Terry: Remember his sabbath day and keep it holy.

Doug: We can keep his commandments.

Paul: What else?

Terry: We can be ready to be where or what He wants us
to be.

Doug: And we can also forgive others who hurt us just
like we want the Father to forgive us.

Paul: Yes, all these things we can do for him but I
think the most important thing we can do to honor our
Heavenly Father is to LOVE him and to give our life to
him.

Terry: You know something Doug?

Doug: What Terry?

Terry: My Mom's not the only smart one in the family.

Doug: Yes, Terry I do believe your right.

Paul: Aah come on, let's go show our list to Mom and see
what she thinks of them.

Terry: Come on Doug you too!

Doug: Hurray I am coming too!

Paul: Well, let's go.
